installation

Follow these steps to get groovmint set up in your Notion workspace.

1: Purchase the template

Visit the Notion Marketplace and search for "groovmint" or head back to the groovmint home page to choose the template that's right for you. There are three options:

  • groovmint - the complete dashboard system
  • groovdo - a standalone component for task and recurring task tracking
  • groovtrain - the FREE standalone heat map habit tracker

Click the purchase button and complete your transaction. Once payment is confirmed, you'll have immediate access to your chosen template.

2: Duplicate to your workspace

After purchasing, you'll see a Get template or Duplicate button. Click it to start adding groovmint to your Notion workspace.

3: Select your workspace

A dialog will appear asking you to choose which workspace to add the template to. If you have multiple workspaces, select the one where you want groovmint to live. Note that the groovmint license is only for one workspace, not multiple.

Note: If you use groovmint on a teamspace, everyone in that teamspace will be able to see your dashboard data. If you intend to use groovmint in your private page of your job's company workspace, the administrators of the workspace can download all pages, including private pages. For privacy, you may prefer to use a personal Notion workspace account instea.

4: Wait for duplication

Notion will begin copying all pages, databases, and automations to your workspace. This typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on your connection speed. You'll see a progress indicator while it's working.

5: Access your new template

Once complete, your copy of the template will appear in the location you chose in Step 3. If you can't find it, use the Notion search bar at the top of the sidebar, or press Ctrl/Cmd + P to search for it.

6: Preparation

If you purchased groovdo, groovme, or groovtrain, you can copy the contents of the template to any page in your workspace and you're ready to go.

If you purchased the complete groovmint template, continue with the following steps.

Open the Welcome to groovmint template page. Inside you'll find three pages:

  1. groovmint (Free Notion User dashboard page)
  2. groovmint (Paid Notion User dashboard page)
  3. groovmint/HUB (all users)

You can use the Welcome to groovmint page as your home if you like, or move the pages elsewhere - it's entirely up to you. If you'd like to move them, here's how:

If you have a FREE Notion account

Drag or move the groovmint (Free Notion User) page from the Welcome page to wherever you'd like it to live in your private space or teamspace. You may then delete the groovmint (Paid Notion User) page - you won't need it.

If you have a PAID Notion account

You may delete the groovmint (Free Notion User) page, then drag the groovmint (Paid Notion User) page to anywhere in your private space or teamspace.

Moving the groovmint/HUB page

The groovmint/HUB contains all of the databases and settings that power your dashboard. You have two options for where to put it:

Option 1

Move the HUB page to your Private or Teamspace alongside your dashboard page. This is the best option if you plan to create multiple groovmint dashboards, as all dashboards will connect to one central data source.

⚠️ Do not move the HUB into the dashboard page itself if you plan to use multiple dashboards - doing so will break the data connection between them.

Option 2 - Keep it together:

Drag the HUB to the bottom of your main groovmint dashboard page - this keeps everything in one place. But be aware that if you ever delete the dashboard page, you'll lose all your data with it. For this reason it's not recommended.

We'll cover the HUB in detail in The Hub section of this guide. For now, the key rule is: do not enter data directly into any of the HUB databases unless this guide specifically tells you to.

You're all set! Take a moment to explore your new dashboard and get a feel for the layout. When you're ready, read through the rest of this guide before you start adding data - it'll help you get the most out of groovmint from day one.

7: FREE Notion users only

Free Notion accounts are only permitted one chart per workspace. If you see a message on the Groov Momentum chart saying your workspace has already used its one free chart, you'll need to remove all other charts from your workspace before it will display - including the groovmint Paid User dashboard if you haven't already deleted it.

Watch the video below, and follow these steps to get your Groov Momentum chart displaying correctly:

  1. Move the groovmint (Free Notion User) page outside the Welcome page to your private or a teamspace if you haven't already done so. (You can keep it within the Welcome page if you prefer)
  2. Move the groovmint/HUB page to the same location in your workspace (but not within the dashboard page)
  3. Right-click on the groovmint (Paid Notion User) page and select "Move to trash"
  4. At the bottom of the left Notion sidebar, open the Trash folder
  5. Right-click on the groovmint (Paid Notion User) page and click the bin icon to select "Delete from Trash"
  6. If the Groov Momentum chart is still showing the one-chart warning notice, click the settings icon at the top right of the Groov Momentum chart view, click Layout -> table, then click -> chart.

Upgrading later? If you start on a free Notion account and upgrade to a paid plan in the future, you'll be able to re-download the paid user version of the groovmint dashboard at any time.
