let's get started!

Ready to start? Here are the first steps to set up your groovmint dashboard template.

You've read through the guide, you know how it all works - now it's time to actually use groovmint. This section gives you a clear starting point so you're not staring at a blank dashboard wondering where to begin.

When setting up something new, the urge to do everything at once is real - map out every groov, load up your entire task list, create a habit for everything you've ever wanted to do.

Resist it.

groovmint is built on the idea that small, consistent actions lead to real progress and proficiency, and getting started is no different.

Step 1: Set up your holidays

Before you add a single task, spend two minutes setting up your Holidays Schedule in Settings. It's the one piece of housekeeping that makes everything else work better from the start - groovmint will immediately know which days are non-working days and flag any task deadlines that fall on them.

See the Settings section of this guide for how to do this.

Step 2: Create your first groovs

Start with two or three groovs that reflect what matters most to you right now. Don't overthink it - you can rename them, add more, or archive ones that no longer fit at any time. A simple starting point might be something like "Work", "Health", and "Personal" - but use whatever language resonates with you. These are your chapters, not anyone else's.

Step 3: Add a few tasks

With your Groovs in place, add the tasks that are actually on your mind right now. Don't try to dump your entire to-do list in at once - just the things you need to get done this week.

Link each one to a Groov, set a deadline if it has one, and let the alert system do the rest.

Step 4: Set up a habit

Pick the one or two routines you most want to build consistency around first and create a Habit for each. Set a realistic routine goal - something you can actually hit most weeks - and link each habit to its related groov. You can always add more once the system feels natural.

Step 5: Log your first journal entry

Create a new journal entry and take thirty seconds to record how you're feeling right now. Mood, energy, feeling - that's it. This is the baseline your MINT visuals will start building from. It doesn't need to be a meaningful moment - the value comes from doing it regularly over time.

Step 6: Add your first learning

If you're actively researching or studying something right now, create a Learning page for it and link it to the relevant groov. If not, skip this for now and come back to it when it's relevant.

You're ready!

That's all you need to do to get started. From here, groovmint does the work of tracking, calculating, and visualising your progress. Your only job is to keep showing up - completing tasks, logging habits, journalling when you can.

Check your dashboard each morning to see what's in Focus, and take a moment at the end of the week to look at your Groov Momentum chart and see how far you've come.

💚 One last thing: groovmint works best when you're honest with it and patient with yourself. Some weeks will be quieter than others. That's not failure - that's life. The system doesn't judge you for it, and neither should you.
